Lake Lure

With 22 miles of shoreline, Lake Lure has been recognized as one of the best places places in the country
to retire. With a unique climate referred to as the Isothermal Belt, Lake Lure does not get quite as warm
in the summertime or quite as cold in the wintertime as the rest of the surrounding area. It is a
a favorite place for many people in the the spring, because of the beautiful flowering trees and plants.
The fall is typical of Western North Carolina, ideal weather and gorgeous fall colors, which usually last
    through Thanksgiving.

How is the Weather?

Spring: Bright sunny skies (with some rainy days) and crisp temperatures with highs in the 50's to 70's
and lows in the 40's and 50's. This is the best time to see wildflowers.
Summer: The temperature and humidity rises with mostly sunny skies and some scattered afternoon
summer storms. Highs in the 80's with rarely a high temperature above the mid 80's and nights
    cool to the mid 60's.
Fall: The spectacular fall foliage show begins in early October in the higher elevations and concludes by             l    late November. High temperatures are in the 70's cooling to the 60's by early November.
Winter: We are in the Isothermal belt and protected by the surrounding mountains, so we seldom have a
major snowfall. Highs usually run in the 40's and 50's. January, February and March are great months to
visit since these are the slowest months for visitors coming to our area.
